My favorite food:
My favorite food is chicken, specifically fried or baked chicken wings and legs!
My favorite activity:
Some of my favorite activities include walking, biking, and hiking. I love watching game shows, scary movies, and Disney movies. I also enjoy reading, coloring, playing board games, and doing puzzles.
Language(s) I speak:
I am fluent in English and Spanish. I took 4 years of French in high school and speak a little.
Places I’ve been or want to go:
I have been to San Diego, New York City, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and the ice castles in Dillon, CO. I would like to visit many more places such as San Francisco, Santorini (Greece), Hawaii, Machu Picchu, and the list could go on forever! I love traveling!
I am in education because…
I am in education because I have always loved learning! I loved school as a student and I am excited to enjoy it as a teacher. There is a quote by BB King, "the beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you," and that has always stuck with me. Education and knowledge are powerful! I also found school to be the place where I flourished most and felt appreciated and I want to do the same for other kiddos.
More about my life and education...
I recently graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Applied Developmental Psychology. I am the first of my family to graduate from college! I am the oldest of four and the shortest of four. Last school year, I was a student teacher in a 5th grade classroom which was an awesome experience!
¡Bienvenidos to AXIS!
Hola AXIS families!
Welcome to the AXIS 2020-21 school year. I know that the start of this school year is not the norm, but I would like to assure you that I will do my best to make this “new norm” feel as calm, smooth, and fun as possible. Our goal at AXIS is to make sure we are doing what is in the best interest of our students, our families, and our community. We will get through this together!
I am excited to introduce myself to you! My name is Julie, I will be teaching Spanish for beginners for 4th and 5th grade this year. Students will address me as Señorita Julie, “Señorita” is the equivalent of “miss” in Spanish. I am of Mexican descent which means both of my parents are from Mexico (I was born in Arizona). I love my Mexican culture and am thrilled to be able to share one of the biggest parts of my culture with my students: the language! I am looking forward to meeting all of my students and their families soon. In the meantime, if you look under the “About Me” tab you can get to know a few more fun facts about me.
If you look below my picture you will see a “subscribe” button, you can click on that to follow any updates I post on this page. My hope is to update my page as often as needed for important announcements. Keep a look out for some more announcements and additions. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email (located below my picture).
See you soon! :D
