ADDITIONAL INFORMATION & FAQ's (based off of the updated guidance from CDPHE as of January 13, 2021):

When can my child return to school if they test positive for COVID-19?

All students who have tested positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, should complete the required isolation period of 5 days. The student may return to school on day 6 so long as they have been symptom free for at least 24 hours.

When can my child return to school if someone in the household is sick?

If a household member is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and they test negative for COVID-19, please continue to have students remain at home until all members of the household are symptom free. If the student develops symptoms as any point, please follow the Return to Learn flowchart to determine when student may return to school.
If a household member is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and they test positive for COVID, the positive person must isolate for 5 days, and continue to wear a mask for another 5 days (In most cases, household members with young children (i.e preschool/elementary) the positive person will not be able to successfully isolate from each other, affecting the isolation periods for vaccinated and unvaccinated children:
- If the student is fully vaccinated, they do not need to quarantine. We do ask that they participate in daily COVID-19 testing at AXIS each morning up until the 5th day of the original COVID-19 exposure. If the student develops symptoms at anytime (no matter how minor: ie. runny nose), they should isolate immediatly and follow the Return to Learn flowchart.
- If the student is not fully vaccinated, or they choose not to test, they must isolate for the full 10 days during the positive person's infectious period. On day 11, the student's quarantine period would begin. In this situation, the student may return to school on day 16, if they have no symptoms. If you find yourself in this situation, please contact our front office for further guidance.

When can my child return to school if they have been in contact with someone outside our household who tested positive for COVID-19?

If the student is fully vaccinated, they do not need to quarantine. We do ask that they participate in daily COVID-19 testing at AXIS each morning up until the 5th day of the original COVID-19 exposure. If the student develops symptoms, at anytime (no matter how minor: ie. runny nose), they should isolate immediatly and follow the Return to Learn flowchart.
If the student is not fully vaccinated, or they choose not to test, they must isolate for the full 10 days from the date of exposure. The student may return to school on day 11, if they have no symptoms and no further contact with the positive case.

When can my child return to school if they are sick?

If the student has any symptoms of COVID-19 (sore throat, fever, headache, etc), please follow the Return to Learn flowchart.
If the student tests positive for COVID-19 the student must isolate for 5 at least days. Student may return to school on day 6 so long as they have been symptom and fever free for at least 24 hours.

DETAILS ON CURBSIDE COVID-19 TESTING

As a service to our AXIS families, we are offering curbside COVID-19 testing (click here to sign up). This is open to any student who is required to test per the Return to Learn flowchart, or any student who would like to test following an illness in the household. We encourage all families to take advantage of this service anytime someone in the household has been experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

When you arrive for your appointment, please pull up to the curb in front of the school, and then call the school to let us know you have arrived. A staff member will come to meet you at the car to administer the nasal swab. You will receive a follow up phone call by 5pm only if the result is positive. If you do not hear from us, you can assume the results are negative and your child can return to school as instructed.
