Jenny Whitaker, Head of School & Director of Finance and Operations
What I Do: Cheerleader for AXIS staff & families. Ensuring all aspects of AXIS - financial, operational, and academic - are meeting the mission and goals of our Board.
Fun Fact: As a 15 year old aspiring cinematographer, I submitted a video to animal planet that they paid me royalties for and still use today.
Melissa Schramm, Director of Program
What I Do: Promote and ensure the educational integrity and success of the AXIS program. Ensure that all aspects of the program are being met and implement services to ensure a successful program outcome. Supporting a continuous growth cycle for both staff and students.
Fun Fact: I went to the McDonald’s in Moscow the first week that it opened.
Elisa Welch, Program Specialist
What I Do: Support with all aspects of our programs initiatives, support staff in growth and development
Fun Fact: I have ziplined near Volcan Arenal in Costa Rica.
Elena Chappelle, Operations Specialist: Records and Enrollment
What I Do: Manages databases, student records and supports all aspects of enrollment.
Fun Fact: I used to teach kayaking and lead wilderness backpacking trips in Alaska through Girl Scouts.
Ashley Byers, Operations Specialist: Finance, HR & Office Management
What I Do: Supports AXIS staff, manages Enrich programming, assists with payroll and accounts payable.
Fun Fact: I’ve scuba dived the blue hole in Belize
Kari Anne Calarco, Founding Head of School, now Special Projects
What I Do: Ensure a successful leadership transition; Create and support an evaluation system for the AXIS organization; help Jenny with other projects.
Fun Fact: Living in Denmark
Chen Hong, Operations and Program Consultant
What I Do: Provide consultation and support on program grants and projects; Ensure preschool compliance with state regulations
Fun Fact: I grew up on an island and my favorite seafood dish is raw shrimp dipped in vinegar.
